JCOPE Launches New ‘Report Misconduct’ Website

Earlier today, the Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) launched a new website through which “misconduct by State officials and employees, lobbyists and their clients, and others” who fall under JCOPE jurisdiction can be reported.

JCOPE_Make_ethicsThe site also includes a page that explains JCOPE’s jurisdiction, and provides links to other state and local agencies where members of the public can complain about possible violations of the law that do not fall under JCOPE’s jurisdiction.

The new web site was originally proposed by Gov. Cuomo in his 2014-15 Executive Budget as a ‘sexual harassment’ hotline, but it appears to go far beyond that.

In a press release, JCOPE Executive Director Letizia Tagliafierro said:

“The Commission’s new tip line and website provide a secure means for State employees and officials, and all New Yorkers, to inform the Commission of potential misconduct in our government.”

The launch of JCOPE’s new web site was first reported in the Daily News.
